How this tool works
Enter a start date and end date. For time-precise calculations, enable the time toggle and enter hours and minutes for each. The calculator uses exact calendar subtraction with correct month-length and leap-year handling.
Worked example
Start: 15 March 1990. End: 4 June 2026. Years: 36 Months: 2 Days: 20 Total days: 13,229 (accounting for 9 leap years in that range) Total weeks: 1,889 Reading: "36 years, 2 months, and 20 days"

Frequently asked questions
How are months calculated?
Months are calculated using calendar months, not 30-day periods. The difference between January 31 and March 1 is 1 month and 1 day in a non-leap year. This matches how age is calculated in most countries and how contract terms like \\\"30-day notice period\\\" are legally interpreted.
Why does total days differ from years times 365?
Because calendar years have 365 or 366 days depending on leap years. The calculator counts the actual number of days in the date range, it does not multiply years by 365. For ranges spanning multiple years, this difference can be several days.
Can I calculate my exact age?
Yes. Enter your birthday as the start date and today's date as the end date. The result shows your exact age in years, months, and days, the same calculation used on official documents. The \\\"days\\\" component updates each day until your next birthday.
Can I calculate a date by adding days?
Yes. Use the \\\"Add to date\\\" mode: enter a start date and a number of days, weeks, months, or years to add, and the calculator returns the resulting date. This is useful for calculating contract end dates, payment due dates, and project milestones.
How accurate is it for historical dates?
The calculator uses the Gregorian calendar throughout. For dates before the Gregorian calendar was adopted in different countries (before 1582 in most of Europe, later in other regions), results may not match historical records that used the Julian calendar.
Does it account for daylight saving time?
For whole-day calculations, daylight saving does not affect the result. If you use the time option and your date range spans a DST transition, the calculator notes the one-hour difference in the hour and minute totals. For most business and planning purposes, whole-day calculations are sufficient.
