Turning dreams into reality for couples’ travel ideas. I do not like to say how many times people say to us, “oh, you’re so lucky” or “I wish I could do what you’re doing.”
If you go back a few years, it might have been us saying those things to someone else. Why is it that some people seem to do so much more with their lives than others?
Well, having spent the last thirteen years traveling and ticking many fantastic things off our bucket list, we think we’ve learned a few things about what it takes to turn dreams into realities.

How did we discover our #1 secret? – Couple Travel Ideas
For many years we had a dream of going to India, and it was just that, a dream. That was before we caught a travel ideas bug and started our couple travel blog.
Whenever anyone would talk to us about India, we would say, “Oh, we’d love to go to India” or “we’ve always wanted to go to India” or perhaps “India’s definitely on our bucket list.”
Apart from these heartfelt expressions of desire, we did precisely nothing about turning these dreams into goals. Time ticked. Nothing changed. We were still saying how much we’d love to go to India.
Eventually, for some reason, and neither of us can remember why we started telling everyone that we were “going to India next year.” We told friends, family, colleagues, and just about anyone who would listen.

Notice the subtle but significant shift. We were no longer saying we’d love to go to India; we said we are going to India next year.
We were telling everyone our dream and putting a time frame on it. Then every opportunity we got, we would reiterate that we were going to India next year.
Of course, we had no travel bookings at this stage and no idea about an actual itinerary. We didn’t even know what time of the year we should go to India.
It didn’t matter; we had put it out there. We had made ourselves publicly accountable. We had something to live up to.
So now we had a conflict. On the one hand, we had told everyone we were going to India, and on the other hand, we had no real plans in place for the trip.
Believe me, if you create this type of conflict in your life, it will start to work for you. The only way you can resolve it is to begin some concrete planning to make your public commitment happen.

That’s what happened to us. We basically couldn’t stand the conflict, especially when friends started asking us about the trip. Doing nothing or keeping it for another day no longer seemed like options.
We started researching when to go, possible itineraries, visa requirements, etc. Little by little, our dream moved from being something without any real shape or urgency to being a detailed travel plan.
So our #1 secret for turning dreams into realities is straightforward. Everyone can do it, and it works.
Tell everyone you know what you are going to do and when you are going to do it. Make your dream public and repeat it whenever you get the chance.
It’s that simple. You’ll be astonished by how doing this one thing will allow you to start to turn your dreams into a reality.
Does it work? – Turning Dreams Into Reality
Yes, this little secret does work. We did go to India. We spent three months traveling all around and had a fantastic time.
We probably could have done the trip years earlier if we had just used this little device to motivate ourselves into action.
Maybe it will entice you to add India to your bucket list. Since India, we have used this secret whenever we want to do something but find ourselves resisting turning our desire into action.

Just last year, we went snowboarding for the first time in our lives. We had talked about doing it for years but had always found out why it wasn’t the right year.
Finally, we just started putting it out there. We told everyone we knew that this was the year we were going to learn to snowboard. Of course, we had the same problem.
We had no travel plans for a trip, and we knew nothing about how to organize one because we had no travel ideas. But, little by little, the fact of telling everyone started to work on us, and we made it happen.
We loved it.
Will this secret work for you?
We understand that everyone is different and what works for some people may not work for others, but this is just so easy to do that it’s worth trying. Just follow these three steps:
- Pick something you want to do and have wanted to do for a long time. Start with something that is reasonably within your means to do. You are looking for something where it is only really a lack of focused action that has held you back.
- Start to tell everyone you know what you are going to do and when you will do it.
- Keep repeating publicly what you are going to do and when.
These actions alone should be enough to give you the motivation and focus on turning one of your long-held dreams into a reality. Once you’ve done one, then pick the next one.
Try it. You’ve got nothing to lose.
Best of luck.
